Ceramic Fiber Module Installation Guide
Proper installation is key to achieving the full energy savings of ceramic fiber modules. Follow these steps for a secure, long‑lasting lining.
Step‑by‑Step Installation
- Preparation: Clean the furnace shell and verify anchor positions (welding or screw locations).
- Anchor Installation: Weld or screw anchors (e.g., 304 or 310 stainless steel) per the layout drawing.
- Module Placement: Press modules firmly onto anchors, ensuring fold lines are oriented towards the heat source. Stagger joints between rows.
- Sealing & Curing: For high-velocity areas, apply a rigidizer coating. Follow the recommended heat‑up schedule to avoid thermal shock.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Leaving gaps between modules – creates heat shortcuts and reduces insulation efficiency.
- Over‑compressing modules – reduces the material’s insulating value.
- Ignoring anchor corrosion – rust can lead to module detachment.
- Skipping the rigidizer in high‑velocity gas zones – leads to surface erosion.
Tip: If you are retrofitting an older furnace, inspect the steel shell for flatness before installing anchors. Any major deformations should be corrected.
